My wife and I went to Sabrozon on a whim wanting to try something new and we were very pleasantly surprised. Upon entering we were greeted by a very peppy hostess who seated us immediately. The interior is authentically Mexican and everyone wears a smile. The chips were warm fresh and delicious. There were two salsas provided for the chips; one red (mild) and a green salsa (hot). As I couldn't decide on my meal, the server brought their four sauces out in little containers to assist in my decision. There were three enchilada sauces and a very tasty mole sauce. I ended up ordering the three enchiladas (two shrimp, one chicken) and my wife ordered the chile relleno burrito.

Absolutely love this place! Excellent food and cozy family atmosphere. Came here with my wife and three young kids. Everyone finished their meal. This does not happen very often. We will return on a regular basis. Really glad we found this great little place.

First time in, and I am in no way an expert on Mexican food. We sat down and before ordering were brought chips and salsa, which was the perfect amount of spicy, and after enjoying all of that the server offered a spicier salsa which we declined. I ordered the Torta, I have had several before each different than the last and this was no exception. Tomato avocado and queso fresco were new to me on a torta and it was great. All the food was well seasoned and hot when it got to the table. I can't ask for more. Second visit, ordered the nachos with just retried beans and cheese, and I have to say they are the best nachos I have ever had.

This place doesn't look like much as you drive up - please don't let that sway you - the staff is excellent and very friendly and accommodating and the food is wonderful! We had queso fundido and it was perfect, homemade tortillas, tacos, chimi and a grilled plantain to top it off. Really nice evening!

Fresh food, friendly service, welcoming for kids, and not at all fancy. Just what I was looking for in a neighborhood taqueria. They're bringing my son a basket filled with toys to choose from right now. What the heck? I want to give this place a hug.

Fun new restaurant in the neighborhood. This place was hopping for Cinco de Mayo with all tables filled inside and out and people waiting, yet wait staff was prompt and pleasant -- more like attending a party than eating at a restaurant. But best of all, the menu is not the run-of-the-mill microwaved rice beans and something in a tortilla. The chips are hot and fresh; the salsa shop made. I had the crispy chili relleno (sp?) which made my eyelids perspire and my daughter had chicken mole which was delicious. Their new liquor license has added a whole range of beers and margaritas to the menu, the latter made with fruit nectars, not flavored syrups. Be sure to try the prickly pear margarita -- yum!

This little place on the outside doesn't look like much, but don't let that sway you. Inside its clean and inviting. We had prompt attention when we walked in and enjoyed our meal thoroughly. My husband got three burritos, one with each of the sauce they offer - mole, red and green. All were delish. I got fish tacos that were served on homemade tortillas with rice and beans. They have two choices for fish tacos, which are fried cod and grilled shrimp. I got the fried cod and next time will get the grilled shrimp. Everything about our meals we loved - fresh ingredients, authenticity, excellent flavors! Also had delicious homemade chips with my legit margarita. Thinking of trying this place? DO IT!!

I been here three times and ate off their lunch menu, I've had the burrito, the torta and the crispy chili rellenos. All were good, the chili rellenos were the bomb. Service is quick and very friendly, amber is so nice, and makes sure that everything is alright, or she makes it right. I would like to see them take into consideration that a lot of people don't like cilantro, it takes out a lot of the menu, when you decide to put it in the dish. Simple solution, put a dish of fresh cilantro on the table and let the customer had as much as they want. Example Fish tacos, have cilantro in the sauce Guacamole is loaded with cilantro. Put your hot sauces in squeeze bottles, makes it easier to put on our food. We are going to move up to the dinner menu. More to follow. It's a nice neighborhood restaurant. Close and good. A few little changes and I'll up the stars.

Very good mole for my wife, but my Al Pastor was the poorest I've had probably ever. I asked about it and got no response. No flavor, shredded and limp, 90 percent rice in my burrito. Very disappointed.

Good all around. We entered and where immediately sat down where ever we wanted. The young waitress was very polite and filled our drinks every time it got close the bottom of the glass. The food was fantastic! I got the cane Asad fries. I could only eat half my plate. They look smaller then they are! I am stuffed to the brim. The boyfriend got the three enchiladas chicken and all three of the sauses they provide. I tried each one. Soooo good. You wouldn't expect this place here in Lake Oswego, but it's here. Come and try them! You'll love them too!

They just opened a month ago. I've been eyeing the place since. I asked to taste the carne asada before I ordered. It was actually quite good. Not too wet or dry. Not tough. Really good flavor. Lunch menu has a variety of options for $7.95 that come with rice and beans. They gave us all three salsas. Hot, medium, and avocado salsa. They were all decent. Hot is pretty hot. medium is ok. I liked the avocado salsa the best. I tried the carne asada fries. 4 stars. Really good, but not the best I've had. Not complaining though. Hard to find carne asada fries in Portland not to mention a good one. Tried my wife's carne asada and chicken tacos. Carne asada taco 4.5 stars. Again, care asada was cooked and flavored really well. Chicken 4 stars. Wasn't overly dry as many places make it. Flauta was decent. 4 stars. Cod fish taco was quite good. Probably a little more sauce then I would put but still quite good. 4.5 stars. I'm gonna give them the extra 1/2 star just because they were so nice and I'm so excited to find a decent Mexican joint close to home. Will probably be visiting quite often....

This place is a little gem. The street taco's are fabulous with a choice of chicken, pork or beef. My husband ordered all three and skipped the rice and beans. He loved them all. Next time I am sure he will try the fish tacos. I ordered the Chilie rellano and they are as good as it gets. It was fresh, perfectly spicy and huge. You can always tell a good rellano by the sauce and if they are not greasy. Sabrozon knows what they are doing. It was so rich that I had to take half home. The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating is because the ambiance is a little lacking. If they had a patio it would have gotten a five start. The most important thing is the food and employees are 5 Star. Visit this little place if you want great, authentic Mexican Food,

I don't know what you chupacabras see in this place. I had better Mexican food in Germany. Don't get me wrong wasn't bad just wasn't good. Definitely not 4 or 5 stars unless I missed the happy ending on the menu.

Delicious! Service was fast and friendly. We had a largish party and they did separate checks. I had the tostada salad and it was yummy!

  • SB B.

Very fresh ingredients and they let the ingredients provide the flavor versus seasoning (or overseasoning as is so often the case) . Kudos to having a spicy salsa that cleared my sinuses right out. Kids liked it and guess what - we were in Oswego and the average age at the place was NOT 68 years old. Many young families and happy kids - we will be back.

Somehow a little strip mall in an obscure corner of Lake Oswego is home to one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Portland region, as well as one of the best BBQ spots (Pine Shed). Sabrrozon is a small, neighborhood Mexican restaurant that seems to be family run. Nothing fancy here, but it is not a dive either. The food is simply outstanding and definitely authentic Mexican. In fact, as someone who works in a primarily Hispanic town and often travels to Texas and San Diego, the food at Sabrozon is as good and authentic as I've found anywhere. Also, service is excellent and very friendly and the prices are extremely reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. The only drawback is that no beer or wine are offered. I emphasize that that is the only drawback. This place is the real deal. You will not find better Mexican food in Portland. I will be back often.

Came here for the first time and loved it! The food was good and the customer service was even better. Everyone that works here is welcoming and quick to give great service. The place was packed and there isn't a lot of space so on busy nights maybe call ahead. We were lucky enough they had one table open. We tried the Carne Asada fries and 3 different Tacos. I usually have to go to San Diego to find good Fish Tacos but the Baja Fish Tacos were delicious. Best chips and salsa I've had in a while as well. Definitely try this place out.

We stopped in to get some Mexican grub to take home and enjoy with a margarita. Very clean and super friendly service. We ordered pollo, carne asada and pastor tacos as well as the carne asada burrito. They were all tasty. We will definitely return.

When driving up to this little strip mall, it doesn't look like much. My wife and I almost didn't go in but the reviews on yelp were good so we decided to chance it. We were very glad we did. The service was excellent and the food was very flavorful. We will definitely be back for more.

Took my wife and daughter here for lunch. The food and the service is very good and the desserts are to die for. Especially the fried ice-cream and Flan. Love the House Enchilada's and the fish taco's. They make their tortilla's from scratch.

Best Mexican food ever. This is not American Mexican or mall Mexican. This is a single and family owned restuarant. Service is great, friendly, food is hot and fresh.

Went here for the first time tonight and loved it. Great authentic Mexican food served with several kinds of salsa. Had two of our authentic staples: Mole Enchiladas and Tacos al Pastor, and they were both incredible. Plus the service was very friendly and fast. One of my new favorites!

Where to start, Sabrozon isn't in my normal area, so it took a coupon in the mail to get my attention. The first thing that caught my eye was that it's Sonoran and not Tex-Mex, and well, I love the regional difference. Looking over the menu there are quite a few dishes I look forward to trying, but when it comes down to it I love a good chicken in molé and gave it a try. Their molé is spectacular, easily the best I've had outside of Mexico, not just dumped out of a jar and follow directions. My daughter had the shredded beef tacos and the beef was fantastic, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service was prompt and friendly and their salsa is house made, fresh and amazing. Sabrozon has definitely earned my business for any time Mexican food is my choice!

This is a great little restaurant, and one of my favorite "finds." The food is extremely fresh. I have ordered their shrimp ceviche, fish tacos, and mole de pollo, and enjoyed each. It has become my husband's and my "go-to" Mexican restaurant. Nice folk work here as well.

Some of the best Mexican food I've had in the Portland area. As a native Texan it's rare I get to find the good stuff cheap like it is back home, too many places in the area treat Mexican food like it needs to be expensive and fancy. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and the owner and his family are incredibly nice. Great chorizo, the salsa is actually hot like it should be, the tortillas are delicious. I'm always surprised with how cheap my check is when I eat about twice as much as a sane person does.

Really good food, we eat here often. The carne asada fries are great, their al pastor (spicy pork) is excellent.

Absolutely amazing place. You are greeted with a warm smile and they will cater to your every needs. I underestimated the lunch taco plate since i have an appetite that i could probably devour a hippo..yet i barely could walk after having 2 carne asada tacos add cilantro, onions and lime; refried beans and rice with chips and salsa...best part, $7.95. Definitely going back.

I really enjoy a good Mexican resturant and would like to see this one succeed, as it's close to my work and the general co workers all love Mexican food aswell. This resturant just opened so I'm giving them another chance in a month to see if it's better then. But first off when you goto a long time Mexican resturant they give you chips and salsa to eat while you wait for your food, this place gives it to you as a side dish with your meal which was not the side I was expecting and neither was the little salad they gave me with my burrito which was very fresh but I was expecting beans and rice which food cost wise would be cheaper than fresh shredded lettuce and fresh tomatoes, I don't visit Mexican restaurants to diet!! The Carne Asada burrito lacked seasoning and flavor very bland tasting, and if you wanted to add flavor to it like sour cream, or guacamole, they charge you an insane amount of money for extras to flavor up your already pricey burrito. Suggestions: Serve chips and salsa right from the beginning. Add seasoning to the food. Lower your prices and stop charging for extras like sour cream, and maybe not as much for avacado. Bring on the beans and rice. Visit other Mexican restaurants that are succeeding and learn from them. See you in a month.

Came down from AZ for a vacation and was looking for a good place to get some authentic Mexican food. Luckily after trying a couple different restaurants I came across Sabrozon. I was hesitant at first because most Mexican restaurants tend to lose integrity but I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing you notice is the colorful atmosphere, it's warm, bright and cozy. The service was fast, friendly and the food reminded me of my mothers cooking. I will definitely be returning. If you do decide to give it a try I recommend the Baja fish tacos!

Tried this place and great Mexican tacos total hands down the best in lake Oswego, Tigard and tualatin area. Next time in town I will be going in for some tacos there.

Don't let the three stars make you think I didn't enjoy the food. It simply wasn't impressive. Maybe I was expecting a little more based on reviews and it was a bit of a let down, idk. I had the taco plate (three tacos with rice and beans). The waiter brought some chips and salsa while I waited. The chips were warm and tasted good. The salsa though was completely flavorless. The tacos and rice and beans were fine, but as noted, nothing great. Whenever I am on the road, I try to find a Mexican joint at least once, so I do have some previous experience to compare to. The restaurant was clean and simple. The service was friendly and quick. The other issue was the price. While not overly expensive for a dinner, the price was a little higher than what I am accustomed to paying for similar places closer to home. Had the food blown me away, it would not be an issue. However, for simply average, it is not justified. I would surely return again and maybe try something else in the future.

In an unassuming little set of shops a block off of Lower Boone's sits Sabrozon, the best Mexican food I've had in Oregon. Everything I tried (chips, 3 salsas, fish tacos, rice and beans) was ultra fresh, non greasy, non salty, and alive with flavor. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy salty and fatty as much as the next guy, but I really appreciate the pure, herbal quality of authentic Latin American cuisine. I've had Mexican food of this quality in only 3 other places: Mexico, Nevada, and a couple taquerias in S. Idaho. My parents (from SE Arizona) were with me and even they were impressed. It doesn't just stop with the food, though. The dining room is clean and pleasant, the service is fast and very friendly, and the prices are surprisingly low (full lunch specials currently $7.50). Sabrozon also caters, which makes it really tempting for me to have a catered Halloween party this year. But even if I don't, I have found my go-to Mexican joint in Pdx metro, so I'm happy.

This is the best Mexican food hands down. There's nothing more authentic in all of Portland. The staff are all very professional and the friendliest I've ever seen. I will recommend this place to everyone I know! I personally recommend the Carne Asada burrito

Sabrozon is incredible. They really are. The food is delicious and very affordable, and the staff are extremely friendly & accommodating every time I go in. I am so happy a place with such integrity and a high caliber of food, with a fair price, was put in Lake Oswego. You will not be disappointed if you eat here. I would give them 6 stars if I Could.

Great food, great price, great service. Came here on Cinco de Mayo and they had great specials on margaritas and dinner. We had a couple house margaritas (which were great - they had flavored options available as well), split some guacamole and chips (largest guac serving I've seen in the Portland area - fresh and thick!), then split a shredded chicken burrito with refried beans, and finished the night off with some deep fried ice cream. The burrito was pretty standard - but I say that in a good way. Great size to split, didn't fall apart as we are it, not overly spicy (we added tapatillo). Dessert was a nicely presented fried vanilla ice cream flavored with cinnamon and nuts and decorated with a light and fluffy whipped cream. Again, perfect size to split between you and your date. Friendly atmosphere, not overly loud, but not the place to go for an intimate, quiet date. But it doesn't feel dirty like a hole-in-the-wall; I was impressed by the cleanliness and authentic, but not not gaudy, decorations. It felt like we were actually at a corner shop in a small village in Mexico. If we lived nearby we'd be frequent customers. How can you say no to a night of margaritas and guac?!

This is an excellent local Mexican restaurant with a wonderful staff. The fish tacos are some of the best I've had in Portland. My only recommendation would be to get a liquor license so one could have a beer or margarita with the tasty food!

It's like being welcomed into someone's home - everyone was so welcoming. We liked the spicier salsa and the quesadilla with chorizo. The tacos al pastor were fabulous too. If you live in the area, lucky you, and if you don't, it's worth the drive. Really fresh, high quality ingredients, homemade food and eager to please staff - it's clear this is a family's labor of love.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
